The artist and curator Taloi Havini from the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea, is working on the collections from this region as a fellow of the MKB. Havini will present her initial findings in the Hedi Keller-Saal. She is looking forward to talking to visitors about ornaments, iconography and their significance.

Explore the exhibition creators and rediscover objects from global contexts through African and Indigenous cosmologies. This tour opens a space for reflection on authorship, memory, and cultural activation.

The tour starts at Museum der Kulturen Basel and ends at Africa Basel Contemporary Art Fair.

The Art Archival Tours offer intimate, guided encounters with two of Basel’s key institutions: the Museum der Kulturen Basel and the Basler Afrika Bibliographien. Together, we will revisit collections and archival materials through the lens of artistic research, subaltern knowledge, and shared memory.

Hiroyuki Murase, Shibori-Künstler in der fünften Generation, vermittelt Grundlagen und verschiedene Techniken der japanischen Stoffmusterungstechnik Shibori. Dabei lassen wir uns von Beispielen aus der Sammlung des Museums inspirieren. Der zweitägige Workshop eignet sich für Anfänger*innen und Fortgeschrittene.
